1. Pay period 01, first SUE report on Thursday 28 March

Due to the Good Friday and Easter Monday public holidays, the pay period 01, first SUE report (also known as the draft SUE report) will be available from the morning Thursday 28 March.

Please send any SUE adjustments for correction by midday Thursday 28 March.

There will be no change to the date of pay day which is on 02 April 2024.

2. Booking leave for Easter Tuesday for non-teaching staff with more than 10 years service

For non-teaching staff with less than 10 years of service, 02 April 2024 (Easter Tuesday) is a paid public holiday.

However, for non-teaching staff (52-week workers, term-time-only employees and annualised employees) with:

  • more than 10 years’ service and
  • who normally work Tuesdays and
  • are not working on 02 April due to Easter Tuesday falling within Term 1,

please remember to book annual leave or unpaid leave for them for 02 April 2024.

There are clauses in the employment agreements for support staff, school caretakers, cleaners, canteen and ground staff, and kaiārahi i te reo and therapists, which state that employees who have completed 10 years' current continuous service are not entitled to Easter Tuesday as an additional paid holiday in their 11th year of work and beyond.

  • Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement Clause 6.3.7 (b)
  • School Caretakers’, Cleaners’, Canteen and Ground staff Collective Agreement Clause 6.4.6 (a)
  • Kaiārahi i te Reo and Therapists’ Collective Agreement Clause 6.3.7(b).

Clauses quoted are from the latest published versions of these agreements.

Southland schools

The exception to this rule is for schools in Southland. Southland Anniversary Day falls on the same day as Easter Tuesday (02 April 2024), so employees with more than 10 years service who are rostered to work on this day, will receive their normal pay as this is a paid public holiday, and there is no need to book leave for these employees.
